The village show is a national institution where members of the British public take huge pride in growing the biggest vegetables, decorating the most sumptuous cakes and creating the most beautiful handicrafts. For many people, being a champion in their village show is the highlight of their year. Now they will have the chance to be a national champion on the BBC as well.
Six regional heats will take place around the country between August and September, with the series culminating in the grand final where the National Village Show champions in each category will be crowned.

Sunday 17 September 2006 Dyffryn Gardens, nr. Cardiff, CF5 6SU
Sunday 24 September 2006 Nostell Priory, Wakefield, WF4 1QE
Grand Final Monday 2 October Highgrove Estate, Gloucestershire
