Spring has sprung in Christine's garden and everything is bursting at the seams with new growth. She lends a hand in her neighbour's garden and receives and invitation to lend her horticultural expertise at an old steam railway line in Yorkshire.

Programme two

It's late spring, and a busy time of year in the garden for Christine. She's been invited to a 'tomato weekend' in the West Country and getting there allows her to indulge in one of her greatest passsions, plant hunting. Christine also finds the time to help her neighbour Reg prune a magnolia tree.

Programme three

It's June, and there's already a hose pipe ban in place. Christine is determined not to let her plants die and comes up with ingenious ways of keeping her garden alive. She heads north for a mass planting day along the old steam railway line, and closer to home Christine digs over her beds and prepares the garden for summer.

Programme four

Summer is here, and despite her best efforts, Christine's plants are wilting under a relentless sun. While it's not the best time of year for her to take on a 60ft by 12ft high overgrown hedge, Christine steps up to the challenge with a single pair of secateurs.

Programme five

It's late August in the garden and Christine and her neighbour Reg have decided to enter their tomatoes into the local summer show. The two titans of vegetable growing go head to head in a seismic battle to decide who is to be crowned 'the tomato king'.

Programme six

September arrives in the garden and the summer heat gives way to the first smells of autumn. Christine heads north to Bolton to visit a farmer's market where she buys local produce in preparation for a Lancashire evening to be held back home.
