Holder of the the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM), this slow-spreading perennial makes a dramatic addition to pond or bog garden plantings. After dying back to groundlevel during winter, rounded heads of white to bright pink flowers announce that it is coming back into growth. Following on from the blooms is the umbrella-like clump of coarsely-toothed, dark green leaves which turn red in autumn. To propagate, divide the plant in spring.
