A compact conical or oval-shaped small conifer, eventually medium-sized, this is remarkable for the intensity of its golden colour. It keeps this well all year, but the effect is best in winter on the older foliage, which is a rich amber. Its shape, size and colouring make it a good addition to a border in a small garden. To be seen at its best, it needs a sheltered situation where it is protected from wind, late frosts and strong midday sun. It combines well with shrubs that are at their most colourful from autumn to early spring. To propagate, take cuttings in late summer.
