This easy to grow iris produces dark purple flowers from mid- to late spring. Plants enjoy a sunny or partially shaded spot in moist but well-drained, acid to neutral soil. To propagate, divide plants from mid-summer to early autumn. It look particularly good if planted in naturalised drifts among other moisture-loving plants. It also associates well with bright yellow flowers and golden foliage. If you don't have room for a pond or bog garden try growing it in a large container filled with water.
