'Parmex' is a great variety for growing in pots on the patio or in shallow soils. It has globe-shaped carrots that are 5-7cm (2-3in) long, easy to pull and full of flavour. It has also been given an Award of Garden Merit (AGM). Carrots are ideal for free-draining soils, such as sandy soils, which warm up quickly in spring. For an early crop start sowing in March, if weather permits, in a warm, well-drained spot or from April to July, in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
