Chilli peppers are best grown in a greenhouse or polytunnel, although some success can be had by growing them in a sheltered, sunny position outdoors or on a sunny windowsill. Sow indoors from February to April and grow them in growing bags or 21cm (8in) pots. Regularly damp down the floor of your greenhouse or polytunnel to maintain humidity. The hot flavour of the fruits increases as they mature. If the flavour is too hot, remove the white pith and seeds before cooking. 'Numex Twilight' produces small, pointed, multi-coloured fruits that have a very hot flavour.
