The creeping version of soapwort, not to be confused with the much larger upright S. officinalis, makes a superb flowering carpet for rock features in summer. This variety is outstanding for its deep, bright pink flowers, which help to attract beneficial insects to the garden. Use it to flow around rocks, helping to blend them into the landscape, or ground cover in large rock features, or allow it to trail over the sides of raised beds and dwarf walls for continuous summer colour. It associates well with silver foliage and large daisy flowers of plants such as Anacyclus pyrethrum var. depressus. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
