Pendula begonias are great for hanging baskets, or cascading over the front of pots and tubs, providing splashes of summer colour. Along with busy lizzies and fuchsias, this plant is ideal for shady patios as it prefers light shade to full sun. Start the tubers off in late February at a temperature of about 15C (60F) and plant out in to their final spot in late May to early June. The tubers can also be overwintered, lift in autumn before the first frosts, and dry them off. Dust with a fungicide and store in a frost-free place.
