'Pentland Dell' produces long, oval, white-skinned tubers that store well. It is particularly good for making chips and shows resistance to slugs, powdery scab and foliage blight. As a first early variety chitted potatoes should be planted 30cm apart and in rows 40-50cm apart. Earlies are less likely to encounter pest problems as they are lifted so much earlier in the year. Pentland Dell is known to be less susceptible to slug damage and shows some resistance to powdery scab. Earlies can be lifted and eaten as soon as they are ready. This will be when above-ground growth is still green, and usually as soon as the flowers open.
