This attractive shrub is suitable for autumn colour. The Royal Horticultural Society also rates it highly and has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM). It has glossy, dark green, rounded leaves with toothed edges. These turn brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow in autumn. In late spring, it produces fragrant white flowers which appear as the new leaves unfold.
