This attractive shrub is one of Nigel Colborn's favourite plants for autumn colour. The Royal Horticultural Society also rate it highly and have given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM). It has glossy, dark green, rounded leaves with toothed edges. These turn brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow in autumn. In late spring, it produces fragrant white flowers which appear as the new leaves unfold.
