To create a sea of spring-time colour plant a choice daffodil variety such as Narcissus 'Jetfire'. This has strong, yellow petals with bright orange trumpets appear in early spring, and though not a large daffodil, growing to 20cm (8in) tall, it looks effective when planted in bold groups. Narcissus 'Jetfire' enjoys most soils that are well-drained but moist during the growing season. Plant bulbs at one and half times their own depth in sun or partial shade. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit.
