Cape leadwort

Cape leadwort grows as a scrambling climber in its native habitat of South Africa, growing through and over supports and other plants. From summer until late autumn it is covered in heads of sky-blue flowers. In the cooler climes of the UK, it is best grown in a container where it can be moved into a frost-free area during winter or as a conservatory climber. Under glass, plants may need restrictive pruning in early spring to keep them in check. Tie shoots onto their supports. Plants need a bright spot in well-drained soil. Feed once a month during the growing season. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit.
