This lovely tree peony is both handsome while in leaf and quite stunning when its huge yellow flowers open. The foliage is bold and elegantly sculpted, a feature in itself. Plants are normally free-flowering, bearing a succession of enormous cup-shaped flowers, often 30cm (12in) across. The plants thrive best in a sunny spot with good, free-draining soil. Feed well and mulch every spring.
