Chilli pepper

This variety of hot chilli pepper produces large numbers of unusually long fruit - 20-30cm (8-12in), which are medium-hot to eat. Sow the seeds between February and April under glass at 18-21oC (65-75oF) or in a sheltered, sunny position outside. This variety tends to grow taller than others, especially under glass, so may require staking. Plants grown under glass should be ready to crop from June or July, with those grown outside being ready a month later. The fruit can be chopped and used fresh, or dried for use later. Under glass, the plants may be susceptible to red spider mite. Care should be taken when handling chillies as they can cause irritation to skin and eyes.
