Breed in France in 1842, this Bourbon has an abundance of nicely scented, crimson-purple double flowers in midsummer on good soil, with slightly wishier-washier colour in poor soil. They are nicely set off by the large, dark green leaves on vigorous, upright, thornless stems. Make sure its neighbours make a strong show in the second half of summer to avoid a huge gap in the border.
