An 1858 Hybrid Perpetual, its quartered, button-eyed flowers attract lots of attention because they start off bright red, turn purple and end up grey, giving a lovely range of tints because the flowers keep opening at different times. Initially deadhead to generate more nicely scented flowers, but leave the final batch of flowers to get a good display of orange hips.
