Similar to 'Pershore Yellow Egg', except that the medium-sized fruit, which crops in mid- to late August, is slightly lopsided and reddish-purple. Again, it's best used for making jams, etc., not being the juiciest, sweetest kind that's eaten straight off the branch. Plums can be grown as fans against walls or cordons, or half-standard or standard trees. Since the spring flowers are easily damaged by frost (which adversely affects the crop), throw a fleece over the bush if a frost is predicted.
