A relative of the best-selling American conifer P. glauca var. albertiana 'Conica' a bushy shrub which has been a major hit since it wasfound in 1904 in the Canadian Rockies but this 'Arneson's Blue' is even more striking. It's a dense, shaggy mini conifer that's slow growing, with blue leaves and greenpatches. Should you find any branches developing all-green leaves, cut them off immediately at the base, or the tendency to turn green might affect the whole plant. Other small bluepiceas include 'Blue Wonder', currently sold by just a handful of specialist nurseries, and the mini 'Blue Planet' which also just needs a bit of publicity to get itlaunched.
