Sheep's bit

A delightful little native wild flower found on heaths and cliffs, it makes a ground-hugging rosette of narrow, pointed leaves, and then out off the centre comes a slender stem in summer with a blue flower, reminiscent of a scabious. Good for cutting. Grow in a rock or wild garden, or in an old sink where it'll really stand out, in free-draining, sandy soil. The quickest time to sow seed is in spring when germination should take 10-14 days at 20C.
