Penstemon

Penstemons inject plenty of colour to the front of borders because they create decent clumps, with long lasting summer flowers in a wide range of colours. As the name suggests 'Flame' has bright, orange-red flowers, typically hanging up the length of the thin spires. It combines nicely with other penstemons like 'White Bedder' and the pale pink 'Evelyn'. Dig them up in the autumn, and keep in pots in a sheltered site until next spring.
