'Franziska Maria' was raised by renowned clematis breeder Raymond Evision and launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2005. The variety is named after Raymond's youngest daughter. It produces striking, double, blue flowers that look almost unreal. These are produced over a long period of time to provide colour throughout the year. It is a good plant for growing against fences and walls and is ideal for small gardens. It also associates well with other plants and looks particularly good trained through wall shrubs or variegated shrubs. Like all clematis, this plant prefers a position in sun with the base and roots in the shade.
