Native to the Himalaya and Burma this hardy grass forms bold clumps of elegant green foliage. This is followed in summer by plumes of yellowish drooping flowerheads. These persist into the autumn and make good architectural seed-heads. It isn't completely hardy and will benefit from some protection during winter. Alternatively plant in a large pot and move to a sheltered spot during periods of cold weather. Clumps benefit from being cut back to ground level in early spring to make space for the new growth.
