Pennisetums are some of the best ornamental grasses producing large showy flowerheads. Their name derives from the Latin words 'penna' and 'sita', meaning feather bristle which is probably a reference to their flowers. Plants form pleasing mounds of dark green foliage that complement the flowers. 'Tall Tails' produces long flowerheads which are white with a slightly pink tinge that remain looking good throughout the autumn and winter.
