This unusual shrub from Central and South America spreads by creeping vine-like shoots. Throughout the growing season it is covered with small, bright orange, bell-shaped flowers. In its native habitat these are pollinated by hummingbirds. Its loose growth habit makes it ideal for use as ground cover on rocky banks and uneven ground where other plants may struggle to establish. It needs a well-drained soil and a position in full sun to thrive.
