Although related to the common parkland lime, this is a much smaller tree that is ideal for the average garden because of its slow growth habit. The foliage is handsome with a glossy surface, serrated edges and a rough silvery underside. The leaves also colour well in the autumn for added interest. It can be pleached or pollarded if necessary to prevent it from becoming too large.
