Originating from South Africa, this unusual semi-evergreen shrub is a distant relative of the dead nettle. The bright orange velvety flowers are produced in whorls along upright growing stems during the autumn. Leonotis are quite tender plants that require a sheltered spot to thrive. In colder areas grow in a large pot and move indoors during the winter months. Established plants should be pruned in late spring once all danger of frost has passed.
