This low-growing fuchsia is very different in looks from more commonly grown varieties. It hails from rocky, coastal areas of New Zealand's North Island where it was first found growing wild in 1834. Sadly due to the destruction of its natural habit, it is now an endangered species in the wild. Its hardy nature means that it can be grown outside all year round in all but the coldest gardens. It forms a low-growing mat that is dotted with its unusual yellow flowers that have green, recurved petals. These blooms are later followed by large, red berries.
