Bring your garden to life
Lighting
Lighting really brings a small garden to life, but you don’t have to go in for anything too complicated.

Modern low-voltage systems are available. Always get expert help to install an electricity source in the garden. A number of kits are available where you just run the cable round the garden and clip the lights onto it wherever you want them.

Solar powered lights are the answer if you can’t be bothered with cables, or you don’t have anywhere handy to plug in, or you want to use lights at the end of a long garden where the cable won’t reach. They cost more than plug-in lights, and aren’t so powerful. Remember to site them where they’ll be in the sun during the day to recharge their internal batteries.

Summary
Don’t think of a tiny garden as second best; look on the bright side as you can afford to indulge yourself in the best of plants, features and architecture. By using your head and sticking to the rules - be selective, be stylish and be theatrical - you can transform a tiny area into a dream garden. It’s all down to good backgrounds and good props’.
