Selborniensis - a Hampshire Garden

Design inspiration

Sarah Harvey"Interpreting Geraldine's initial idea to build a garden inspired by the work of Gilbert White, incorporating a small glasshouse, gave us the opportunity to use the natural shapes of seeds and plant histology within a garden design. Hence the path, encircling the central bed containing carefully nurtured vegetables and ornamentals and the bespoke seat resembling a seed-pod in shape and structure.

"The planting pays tribute to the work of the gardeners at The Wakes in Selborne combining the exotic with native species, many of which White would have recorded. The garden is a combination of artistry, craftsmanship and simple, sustainable technologies which we hope will inspire and encourage those with limited space or funds."
