John and Gregg with the MasterChef 2007 finalists

Meet the finalists

We catch up with familiar faces Steve, Hannah and Ben and find out what it was like to get to the final stages of MasterChef.

Steve Wallis: MasterChef winner

Steve Wallis

Steve’s great palate and innate understanding of ingredients won him the title in the end. He dreams of running his own restaurant and deli and one of his proudest moments was having Raymond Blanc and Michel Roux praise his food.

Ben Axford: MasterChef finalist

Ben Axford

For Ben, winning MasterChef would have ‘been the proudest achievement of anything I’ve done and I don’t say that lightly’. He didn’t win the competition, but he can still boast to have developed a new kind of instinct for cooking.

Hannah Miles: MasterChef finalist

Hannah Miles

Hannah’s country-style cooking showed a natural flair for flavour, yet it was her lack of confidence that caused her to crack under pressure. She learnt how to simplify her food and how to believe in her own abilities.
