Programme one

Emma Forbes

Emma first came to our screens presenting Going Live and then the BAFTA-winning Live and Kicking on BBC children's television. She has since gone on to present several different shows, including Speakeasy on ITV and Sunrise on Sky News. Most recently, she presented Homes and Property on ITV.

When Emma took a break from the television industry to have her two children, she drew inspiration from her surroundings and created the boutique children's fantasy shop Semmalina. Building on the shop's success, Emma developed Star Bags, which creates goodie bags for children's parties. Her most recent venture is Star Grub – delicious boxes of children's party food to order.

In the final test, Emma cooked Shepherds pie with celeriac mash, with minted greens and served an Eton mess for dessert.

Sally Gunnell

Sally is one of Britain's most popular female sportspeople. Having competed in major world championships from 1988 to 1994, she is the only woman ever to hold four major track titles concurrently – Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth. Highlights from her athletic career include a gold medal and new world record at the 1993 World Championships, as well as a gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.

Following her retirement from international athletics, Sally developed a new career as a television presenter and motivational speaker. She has written four books on fitness, health, self-fulfilment and well-being. She is married to Jon and has three sons; Finley, Luca and Marley.

In the final test, Sally cooked a starter of Vietnamese prawn salad followed by a Red Thai curry.

Martin Hancock

Martin has had a wide and varied acting career from British series such as Holby City and Coronation Street to Hollywood blockbusters such as Kingdom of Heaven, where he played a knight defending the city of Jerusalem. Most recently, Martin can be seen in Hannibal Rising, another major Hollywood film.

In the final test, Martin cooked Calf's liver in marsala wine with celeriac dauphinoise and French beans and served a Melon and ginger sorbet with blueberry and vodka coulis for dessert.

Programme two

Sue Cook

Sue has worked in both radio and television for more than 20 years. Her career began as a producer and DJ for London's Capital Radio, and she later went on to present programmes for both radio and television, including the BBC's Nationwide, Breakfast Time, Children in Need, Out of Court, Crimewatch UK, Holiday and Making History.

An honours graduate in psychology from the University of Leicester, in 1997 the University awarded Sue an honorary D.Litt in recognition of her contribution to British broadcasting. Her first novel, On Dangerous Ground, was published in 2006 by Hodder Headline.

She is patron of the Rainbow Trust, an Ambassador for The Prince's Trust and works regularly with a number of youth-related charities. Sue has two children and lives in North London.

In the final test, Sue served Tiger prawns with homemade mayonnaise followed by a main of Pork fillet with mashed Brussels sprouts and cherry tomatoes.

Jeff Green

An award-winning comedian, Jeff is one of the most popular entertainers working in the UK today. In 1994 Jeff was nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Festival. His sell-out comedy tours have taken him across the UK and Australia, and his 1996 tour ended with a television special Jeff Green Live, recorded at Her Majesty's Theatre in London.

Jeff has also appeared on Jo Brands' Hot Potatoes, They Think it's All Over, The Clive James Show, and Never Mind the Buzzcocks – on which he has appeared a record-breaking five times.

In 2002 Jeff released his first book, The A-Z of Living Together, which went to number five on The Sunday Times' best-seller list. It has since sold more than 125,000 copies.

Jeff continues to tour and is currently finishing his follow-up book, The A-Z of Being Single.

In the final test, Jeff cooked Sardines escabeche on toasted ciabatta followed by Moroccan lamb with rice.

Nadia Sawalha

Nadia has worked extensively in theatre, television, radio and film throughout her career. She trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and won her first theatre role in Breaks at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Nadia has worked on various theatre productions during her career. Her film work includes Clockwise, Top Tips with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, and Sleeping with the Fishes with Ewan McGregor. One of Nadia's best-known television roles was as the tough, uncompromising Annie Palmer in EastEnders. She has also appeared in Casualty, Second Thoughts, Which Way To The War and The Bill.

Aside from acting Nadia has presented several shows and she is now a popular presenter for BBC Daytime. Nadia presented Granada's Loose Women and BBC Daytime programmes including Living in the Sun, Passport to the Sun, TV Mail, Perfect Partner, Family Exchange, Now you're Talking! and has also co-presented City Hospital.

Nadia is married and has a daughter.

In the final test, Nadia served Arabian chicken with Apple pancakes for dessert.

Programme three

Jeremy Edwards

Jeremy is best known for his roles in Hollyoaks and then as Danny Shaughnessy in Holby City.

He has a degree in public administration from Manchester University.

Since appearing on Holby City, Jeremy has appeared on GMTV, CITV and most recently on the television show Coronation Street Confidential. He lives in Belsize Park, London with his dog Mollie.

In the final test, Jeremy served Pan-fried scallops with Parma ham on asparagus, followed by Pheasant breast in porcini mushroom sauce with red cabbage and peppered mash.

Lorne Spicer

Lorne is a well-known face of BBC Daytime. She has presented Cash In The Attic, Trading Treasures, Trading Up In The Sun and Money Spinners on BBC One.

In 2006 she started showing families how to make money out of their collectables in the daytime series Car Booty on BBC One.

With a degree in communication studies, Lorne started her television career as a reporter on BBC Radio Norfolk and BBC East. She went on to produce a morning European business news show and a personal finance show. Lorne has also presented various programmes for ITV such as Bootsale Challenge and is a regular guest expert on money matters for This Morning and GMTV.

Lorne regularly contributes to national newspapers and magazines on financial matters and antiques. Her first book, Find a Fortune, offers advice on buying and selling on Ebay.

In the final test, Lorne cooked her own speciality 'Spicer salad' followed by Pan-fried sirloin steak with soy and ginger broccoli.

Matthew Wright

Matthew is most famous for his live current affairs programme, The Wright Stuff, which airs daily on Five. He has presented the show since 2000, and it has since been nominated for Best Daytime Programme at both the RTS and National Television Awards. Matthew's TV break was on The Richard Littlejohn Show.

Matthew studied drama and English at university and started his career in journalism working for his local paper. He went on to be a showbiz journalist for The Sun and later a columnist for the Daily Mirror. He also helped Martine McCutcheon pen her best-selling autobiography Who Does She Think She Is?

Matthew is a long-time rock and roll fan, and has recently channelled his passion by developing and presenting shows for Radio 2. He also regularly sits in for Steve Wright, Michael Parkinson and Johnnie Walker.

In the final test, Matthew served Salmon sashimi with scallop à la ronde, followed by Chicken laska.
