2 slices streaky bacon, chopped
1 tsp butter, melted
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 tsp plain flour
150ml/¼ pint whole milk
50ml/2fl oz double cream
50g/1¾oz uncooked sweetcorn
6 clams, steamed for 5 minutes (discard anyt hat don't open)
salt and freshly ground black pepper
fresh chives, to garnish
thick crusty white bread, to serve
Fry the bacon for 2-3 minutes, add the butter and garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the flour and stir well.
Gradually add the milk and cream and stir well. Add the sweetcorn and simmer until thick.
Add the clams and pour into a bowl. Garnish with chives and serve with crusty white bread.
