Garden tonic


  • ice cubes

  • 3-4 fresh mint leaves

  • 2-3 slices cucumber

  • 1 tsp elderflower cordial

  • 3-4 dashes celery bitters (available from specialist drinks suppliers)

  • 25ml/1fl oz gin

  • lime wedge, to garnish

  • tonic water, to top up

Preparation method

  1. Half-fill a highball glass with ice cubes and add the mint leaves and cucumber.

  2. Add the elderflower cordial, bitters and gin and stir.

  3. Squeeze a little lime juice into the drink, then add the squeezed lime wedge to the glass. Top up with tonic water and serve.
