Vanilla sugar
Ingredients
750g/1½lb caster sugar
2 vanilla pods
Method
For method 1:
1. Put the sugar into an airtight container.
2. Split the pods and tuck them into the sugar. Seal the container.
For method 2:
1. For a deeper flavour, cut the pods into pieces and tip the sugar and pods into a food processor.
2. Blend until the vanilla is broken down and evenly distributed.
3. Pour into a storage jar and seal tightly.
