Pickled eggs egg

Makes 1 jar

Preparation time overnight

Cooking time 10 to 30 mins

Vegetarian


Ingredients
300ml/10fl oz malt vinegar
2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 handful pickling spice
2 tsp black treacle
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tsp salt
3 dozen hard-boiled eggs, shelled


Method
1. Boil all the ingredients except the eggs for 15 minutes. Allow the liquid to cool.
2. Place the eggs and the pickling liquid in a 2.5kg/5lb sterilised jar. Turn upside down to mix well and leave for about 1 month before eating.
