Croque Monsieur white bread

Quick Recipe


Ingredients
1 egg
splash of double cream
salt
freshly ground black pepper
2 slices of ham
55g/2oz fontina cheese, grated
2 slices of thick white bread
little melted butter, to brush


Method
1. Whisk the egg, cream and seasoning together in a large bowl and set aside.
2. Layer the ham slices and grated cheese on top of one slice of bread, and sandwich together using the other slice.
3. Dip the sandwich in the whisked egg, to coat.
4. Brush a medium non-stick pan with the butter and pan-fry the sandwich for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until crisp and golden.
5. Serve.
