Cheese straws with onion chutney

Preparation method

  1. Preheat oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.

  2. Roll out puff pastry to a 20cm rectangle. Crumble the gorgonzola on top, fold over and roll out to 16cm.

  3. Cut the rolled pastry into strips and twist each strip at either end to create the cheese straw.

  4. Place the straws onto a baking sheet, brush with the egg wash and put into preheated oven for 15 minutes until golden.

  5. Remove from the oven, place onto a cooling rack and serve warm.

  6. For the chutney place a little oil in a pan and slowly cook the onion for five minutes until soft and golden.

  7. Add the sugar, red wine vinegar and balsamic vinegar and cook for a further four minutes.

  8. Serve the cheese straws with the onion chutney.
