Compôte makes for a healthy dessert or breakfast and we have some delicious recipes. The fruit can be cooked whole or cut into pieces and almost anything can be used – apples, figs, apricots, rhubarb, berries. It’s good to use seasonal fruits to get the best flavour. A savoury compote made with tomatoes or shallots is a tasty accompaniment to barbecued meat or fish.
