And the winner is... "Leg over". Jonathan Agnew and Brian Johnston's classic cricket commentary won the vote in the grand final, receiving around 75% of the total votes cast.

Thank you all for voting - now we know what you believe is the greatest sporting commentary.

1ST PLACE: Jonathan Agnew & Brian Johnston
England v West Indies: 5th Test, The Oval
9 August 1991

Jonathan Agnew describes Ian Botham's freak dismissal where he fell over his own stumps, with the immortal "just couldn't quite get his leg over".

The late, great Brian Johnston desperately tries to maintain control of his hysteria while attempting to sum up the day's play, while Agnew sinks further and further into helpless laughter. Not exactly live commentary - but we couldn't leave this one out.

2ND PLACE: Ian Robertson
Australia 17-20 England: Rugby World Cup Final, Telstra Stadium, Sydney
22 November 2003

Rugby correspondent Ian Robertson was the man commentating for Five Live during the nerve-wracking final moments in Sydney.

England were taking on the might of Australia on their own turf and the game had been nip and tuck all the way through, looking certain to go into an extra 'sudden-death' period. When Matt Dawson set up Jonny Wilkinson for the drop goal, our man could barely control the emotion in his shaking voice as the ball spun towards the uprights. Listen out for Rob Andrew shrieking in the background...

3RD PLACE: Kenneth Wolstenholme
England 4-2 West Germany: World Cup Final, Wembley Stadium
30 July 1966

Arguably the most famous piece of sporting commentary ever, Kenneth Wolstenholme must wonder if he'll hear the end of it. The match went into extra time with the score at 2-2, West Germany having equalised in the final minute.

Geoff Hurst scored a controversial goal 11 minutes into extra time to make it 3-2. In the dying seconds, West Germany sent their entire defence forward, pressing for an equaliser. Bobby Moore won the ball, found Hurst, and as the England striker ran toward the opposite goal, some of the crowd moved onto the pitch...
