Microsoft announced a sweeping reorganisation last week just as it got some unflattering press in the mainstream media, including a front page BusinessWeek story that asked why employees were leaving the place in droves.
Employees cite bloat, a stuck in the mud and more nimble competitors such as Google, and they aren't just airing their gripes in exit interviews. No, those who are staying put have put up their own blogs.
Some folks have called Mini-Microsoft the software giant's Deep Throat. He - and he is a he BusinessWeek found out - is a Microsoftie, but not a happy camper.
And adding insult to injury, he's not blogging about on Microsoft's own MSNSpaces. No, he's airing the company's dirty laundry on Google's Blogger.com. Slightly ironic slap in the face.
"Mini" as he's called by other bloggers must either: A) love Microsoft and want it to change or B) is so fed up with the bureaucracy there that he just doesn't care and wants to use the blog to launch his exit.
Mini isn't the only corporate insider blog that went into my reader last week. A friend back in the states also sent me a link to Belle in the Big Apple.
Now, if I were lucky enough to get a bit part in Altman's The Player , I would say: "Think Sex in the City meets Broadcast News ." Well, that and a dash of Sweet Home Alabama .
Belle's a 25-year-old producer at the Fox News Channel. Her posts mix snapshots of the newsroom, literary quotes and anecdotes about love and life in New York.
Her voice is a buttery purr of prose that reminds me of many of my friends from the South, where the language is full of music and beautiful imagery. It's a good read.
My friend probably passed it along to me because he's a died-in-the-wool Democrat. Democrats hate the Republican-loving Fox News Channel, and Belle paints a pretty unflattering picture of working there.
Ah well, in the 21st Century, blogs are becoming a popular way to vent professional frustration. Just be careful Belle, or soon you'll be dooced although I'm sure you'll land on your feet.

Mini-Microsoft - the software giant's Deep Throat.
Blogs offer a way for disgruntled workers to air their employee's dirty laundry in public. Mini-Microsoft is one such blog and, to add insult to injury, he use's Google's Blogger.com rather than Microsoft's MSNSpaces.
