Take your pick from these pieces of legislation:
1) 1972 European Communities Act which means European law now takes precedence over UK law.
2) 1998 Data Protection Act which makes it illegal to collect information for one reason and then use it for another.
3) 2001 Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act which allows foreigners suspected of terrorism to be held without trial indefinitely.
4) 1920 Government of Ireland Act which formally set up what we now know as Northern Ireland.
5) Ancient English Law which means that, providing they use a bow and arrow, it remains legal for English market traders to kill any Welshman who enters England on a market day.
