NEED TO KNOW:
Backstory: Originally titled The Wild And Wycked World Of Brian Jones, Stoned is a labour of love for veteran producer Stephen Woolley. He's been developing the project since 1993, eventually being persuaded by writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade that he was also the man for the director's chair.
Stoned is about original Rolling Stone Brian Jones who died in mysterious circumstances, drowing in his swimming pool at Cotchford Farm, AA Milne's old house in East Sussex (a verdict of Accidental Death was given). Jones' demise in 1969 came just three weeks after he'd been dismissed from the Stones; he'd been a founder and the group's driving force before sex and drugs replaced the rock'n'roll entirely.
Woolley is keen to stress that Stoned is not the story of the Rolling Stones, but a murder mystery and look at the "upside and downside of hedonism". Leo Gregory (Suzie Gold) plays the archetypal live-fast-die-young Jones, while Paddy Considine (My Summer Of Love) is Frank Thoroughgood, the builder who was working at Jones' estate when he died.
Location, Location, Location: The film was shot at Pinewood Studios and on location at Battersea Park and Hampton in London. It wrapped after shooting in Morocco. Our set report is at Pinewood and a scene by the infamous swimming pool.
Watch Out For: Swedish actress Tuva Novotny, who plays Anna Wohlin, and Amelia Warner, who plays Janet Lawson - both women were present at Cotchwood on the night of Brian's death.
UK Release: No confirmed date as yet.
