SYNOPSIS OF STORY

Just a simple zombie film. It's not supposed to be a parody of Dawn Of The Dead (I, unlike some others, have respect for the original work), but... well, you'll see.
Unofficial sequel: 28 Minutes Later

Director - SCC Overton

I am the writer, director of photography, editor, producer, and director of Afternoon Of The Dead. Filmed and edited in one day!

YOUR REVIEWS

James McNaughton
This is a really good film, a realy showcase of skill. A tour de force. So good it inspired me to do an unofficial sequel, I really can't praise this film enough.

Trevor
I liked the sound fx, but it was unsatisfying--no climax for all the build up. And only a hint of the dead. Too slow for such a short piece though the scene could be effective in something longer.

Steve
A very well directed piece of work, nice foreboding atmosphere, its scripts like this that make the indie market the place for talent.. nice one

dead girl walking
well the title should be taken away i mean dead were was the dieing

Jamie
Ok

ansemic
If it was supposed to be tense it failed. More like something from "How Clean is your House"

daniel
erm... you said it was a zombie however i see no enigma codes ti suggest there was a zombie at all?!? Also the dropped frames? C'mon horror an french new wave don't mix man!

Zig
Funny, really made me laugh. I know this isn't the right kind of response, and I'm not drunk either, but that's how it made me feel.

KIIIIIOOOO$%^
IT WAS OK OHHHHH!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Xardox
About as lame as it can get.

Joel
Good ideas, perhaps a tripod could have been used in cases?

R_Cain
Very nice atmosphere . . . Maybe another corpse needed?

arthur
ok then

Hazim
It's like the picture of our houses. In the end of the film, why you use the letter 'Fin'?

Alan
Excellent use oƒ sound effects and shot variety.

KATH
GREAT!

spacemonkey
Would make an effective scene in a longer movie but without a back story or an ending it is simply a disembodied segment. Technically good though.

woodstock
Lacked a satisfying ending- happy or sad. A little ketchup could have livened it up.

Paul Vortex
Not bad! Didn't need so long establishing the scene at the start... And I'd have had a shot of a Monster's arm bursting in at the end... Shame not to make any use of the tension you built up so impressively... Slight misfire there. Nice use of sound.

Linkir
I guess he tried, but how naff can you get? There's hope though.. don't give up. Just put a lot more effort in.

kel
very very good.. however horror movies dont make sense if they're shot in day time!!! just not quite right! but other than that fanbloodytasti c!

JoBy
A job well done. reat use of tension and camera work amazing, i really enjoyed it. keep it up, you'll go far if you jump at the chances!

rj
Not bad given the time restrictions and budget, some shots wasted time eg outside and sink, but the knife and dead arm was fine, should have been a blood stained knife., or showed something in reflection instead of his face. Shots of the open door and sound of traffic did not match the country house look from the field.

rubbish

Bex
Brilliant. Amazing use of sound to make something completely not creepy - the afternoon, a sink of dirty dishes - really disturbing just by your use of the camera and the incredible sound. Some great shots in there as well. Good job!

Gekko.
okaaay

bob
it was pretty turdish

stefan walker
very good it nearly freaked the hell outta me.

A Flat Tuesday
Excellent piece of work! of all the sixty second movies I''ve seen so far, this is my favorite!

DS
Good in the building up of tension

joe hunter
its alright, but to hold off the 'monster' to the point where it does not even appear, that defets the point of it bing a 'zombie' film. your right overton, it is a simple film.

jo
yep, my house is scary like this too

daotruongson
nice movie anyways. However, it is better to spend time on doing smt else more interesting than seeing this difficultly- understanding movie.

hannah x
hmmmm interesting

emma hanna
good but needs a ending.....

kurt
ooooh! scary! nice one bub!

JOHN ELFED HUGHES
Good! The tension in the film was excellent. Cleverly made.

Lee C
Astounding piece, I'm sure even Geoffrey Rush would struggle to capture the heart wrenching pathos exhibited by our brave lead. It was great that you gave the hoover a run out in the living room, but a bloody arm in the waste bin won't get taken by the bin men, they're not allowed. Pressed all the right buttons for me apart from the 'Stop, let's think before we waste a minute' one.

Jan & Pete
Have you thought of chhanging your name to Q. Tarrantino?

LOLLY 2000
great.......the slow picture effect made me think my connection was bad.........unfortuna tely it didn`t give me so many other inspired ideas......

Lizzie
Oh dear. A re- edit with some decent transfers and a faster pace would be good. Are you an estate agent by any chance? Or just awaiting Laurence Llewelyn- Bowen?

W8-4-2morrow
More like a Dead Afternoon. No expense spared on the special effect although more like Blair Witch than Dawn of the Dead. Saying that, there was an atmosphere although that could be down to the room of the final scene.....

Dead Dog
Pretty good, i reckon. Romero would approve of the atmosphere at any rate. Not much in the way of plot, but few films here seem to manage that in a minute. I'd like to see more stuff like this...

You'll find out
My god it was filmed and edited in one day... how ever did you do it?

-skaster-
This is my favourite 1 minute movie so far. Brilliant! Although, you could have taken a bin in with you, you messy person! I agree with Brian and kt about needed tighter editing in places and a tripod. But who cares! Sweet filmin' gee dawg! -steve-

josie muncaster
funny. i love them noise of someone's heart

John
Who's behind the door--Kim and Aggie?

katie
alright but what was it about

vicky
needs more time be effective

Iker
I like it!! Great mood... But still I think it needs an ending.

Joćo
Very refined way for showing a such common thing fear...

Brian
like this one. would liked to have seen some tighter editing of the lounge/kitchen shots, maybe used some more forward movement in the camera- work to imply the impending terror - and maybe, whne the screen goes blank, the sound of a door being smashed and a scream!!! really send the kids off to bed with nightmares. can't wait to see more work from the maker.

true ace
I liked it, reminded me of the good old horror flicks. You should do another one.

bette
hee. nice build up. did get quite involved by the end although some of the earlier shots of the living room are a bit bland. liked the reflections and the close ups of the eye. keep at it...

kt
twas good but with a little bit more time n effort it could be soooooooooo much better you need to get your hands on a tripod mate. but well done any way.

Gee Man
I liked the ending, and having the zombie as the camera. Obviously, you're restricted by only having a minute but you build up a sense of the world well in the time allowed, especially with the sink and and noise of flies. Good work

viceroy
not keen

Matteo
Damn...what about the zombie(s) man? I do agree in saving the 'monster' for the best part, but here looks like something is missing. Though with your short short you made a point, and it was fun to watch. Keep up with the good work.

Mike
not too bad... has been done too many times.

Max R
Only only saw one shot on that film that had some creative flare... The reflection of your face in the knife and the fly sound effect. Apart from that, lighting was poor and the camera should be respected and held properly. The Blair Witch effect just doesn't work. Max R

kinder
nice props, love the wig and glasses theme going. keep it up, may contact u for future eastender roles

ian
good stuff.

max
filmed and edited in one day!!.........i would be annoyed to have spent one day of my life on making such rubbish

Scotty Ward
Sweet mate, got me going for a minute there! could have done with more of that at uni, might have gone more!!!

Mordrin the godbin
Very good effort. Next please from this director. Hope you have other projects in the tube. maybe in future, take more time over the editing. What could you have left out? Otherwise, very brave attempt to fit as much in as possible. A minute aint a long time folks but its very hard to fill.

andieglydie
got the afternoon bit alright but where exactly were the dead????

mofo
Where were the Zombies! I feel cheated.

Paul Swales
Interesting... some interesting shots, but doenst suit the 1minute timeframe.

fran santos
Just the shot with the eye moving made this 1 minute film for me.

lt
Bad camera shots don't really add tension, not the best of editing and bad bad sound, not the best use of a minute

Nick
Yeah you did more than me...you had a go! fair play. Light a bit harsh...sunset might have been more atmospheric.

PAC
Good tension. Need to purchase a tripod though.

Allen ,Rugby
What a star you could teach some of the big film makers a thing or two. More Please

ENG Dept
Nicely composed opening LS - love those diagonals - but the punch line doesn't quite do the piece justice.

j b MAC 3000 JELLY BABY
I love your use of photography. And your hair. Got to Specsavers. Peace, man.

BONARD
Interesting use of goat noises and the dood with the glasses should go to specsavers. p.s get a haircut and a dishwasher

Liz
Weird. but then i have no respect for zombie movies. Nice Shirt by the way. Looks familiar.. You sure know how to scare people in the middle of the afternoon. Sunny! Good on you put me in the next one!

ws
The content was mainly overshadowed by your inability to hold a camera still.

The Riddler
Fairly unusual characterisati on, keeping our fears familiar. Clevery understated nervous tension.

Kermit
I think that the director clearly has a love for the genre, he's managed to pack a lot of references into the minute. I'd like to see more of his work.

Sponge Bob
A roller coaster ride of pure zombie fun! Forget Shaun of the Dead. It's rubbish. Afternoon of the Dead is brilliant. Simple As. Shaun of the Dead's Dawn has dawned and now as a result he's dead and it's the afternoon now, Afternoon of the Dead!

Adrian Moore
A cool little film, nice one mate!

pw
A good piece of cinematic entertainement . More please!

A. S
Clever use of sound! Impressive to shift such mandane domestic object into a scarely one, just by applying the sound! It's so abrupt and funny....

Josh Taylor
Atmospheric, heart pumping zombie brilliance! Amazing

C Lewis
a well used minute of my time..

Satyajit Ray
shows great possibility for the director- if this is what he/she could achieve in a minute...wow!

Laura Carpenter
IT SCARED MY PANTSIES OFF

onlyz
not bad! nice clean lounge, good hoovering job

Kurdish_Princess
hehehe...i think that was more of a chance to show off your house!! hehehe

Bench Mark
Aghhhhhhhhh. Nightmares before bedtime. Not paid your Sky subscription! Neat film.

J S
Nah!
