BBCi FILMS - Readers' Reviews

Adil Certel
Fantastic, go see it!

Richard Mansell
A MOVIE YOU'LL WANT TO SEE AGAIN

Ian
The sound effects on nearly every cut were so annoying. Also, too long and not enough gags.

Simon
Very very good - recommend to anyone who has a sense of humour!

Graeme
In places absolutely brilliant. I enjoyed it more than Shaun of the Dead. I'm off to join my local neighbourhood watch!

Gem
Hilarious!! Loved it, Loved Shaun of the Dead but thought this was much more satirical!!! Fab!

Pete B
Utterly hilarious, the last 20 mins had the entire theatre in hysterics. Can't reccommend it enough *****

Ian Ratcliffe
Never has a film so exceeded my expectations! Highly recommended.

Lawson
Very good. Enjoyed it from start to end.

Emma Lichfield
Funny and clever. Perfect example of Britsh comedy at its best

Ricky
Occassional drab moments, but the jokes and parodies make up instantly.

Ishtaq
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are the best comedy duo...

Jojo Simpson
I haven't laughed so much for a long time.

Howard K
Most fun had at the cinema in years - a great night out.

Liam coutanche

Mr. film

tolgahan
excellent better than borat.

kieran
it was great funny as hell want to see it again

greekned
This is the funniest film I have ever seen! Even funnier than Severance,Ancho rman or Dodgeball. The trailer only shows about 2% of the jokes, this film is hot stuff all the way through!

Movieman
The next best comedy from the Sahun of the dead team and trust me this is funny as hell

Tori Reynolds
Admittedly I was a little worried at the start as it seemed a bit slow but once Nick & Danny team up to create the magic Pegg/Frost partnership, it's just perfect. Long may their films continue (and a Spaced special would be nice too!)

sonya
great film.funny and kept ya wanting to watch

simac
to long... very good in parts but not a classic

SuperFlorecne
The first have is laugh out loud hilarious. Somewhere in the middle there is a change of tone as it becomes a little scary, and by the end the gratuitous violence had me bored. Its a shame because this could have been a great film, but the action at the end does not work, and the ending was unsatisfactory.

George
Very nearly fell off my seat laughing - quality film!

Lee Doherty
A true homage to the cop genre - a flick made BY geeks FOR geeks! After 'Shaun', there was a lot of expectation for this and it pays off to the max. Pegg & Frost lose none of their previous chemistry, the gags, both verbal and visual are superb and the action is so well executed in the finale, it feels like a genuine blockbuster. Keep it up guys - bring on the noise! PS Well done Tim Dalton 10/10

Mark Richardson
Very very funny - definitely recommended! Only slight criticism - little too long!

callum jones
It was brilliant I fell out my seat with laugfter

esther
one of the best british commedy films ever out!

dave
funniest film i've seen in a long time. laughed from start to finish!!

Stevie
Fantastic - Go see it! Did anyone else spot Cate Blanchett in it as Nicholas Angel's girlfriend? - you'll notice she doesn't take her mask off but it IS her.

n a fisher
loved shaun of the dead so this was a must see film. this film can only be described as laugh out loud funny. you have too see it twice because you miss so much the first time because you are laughing so much. this film has something in it for everyone; action, car chases, grisly murders, gun fights and even a village fete !!!!

Daryn
A work of genius, far better than shaun of the dead. It was without doubt the funniest film I've seen in years, and so refreshing to see a film made by guys who weren't responsible for four weddings and bridget jones diary.

lozza
Buddy brilliant ... the best comedy cop film ever

Dominic M
Hot Fuzz is the sort of film with some funny (and dark moments) with some surprising twists and turns that you don't expect. As many reviews say, it's another Shaun of the Dead (but without the zombies). 8/10

James Pitman
Fun, but not as resonant on a comedic level as "Shaun" with which I feel I have to compare it. I thought that the jokes weren't as targeted and insightful, and relied on rather tired stereotypes and conventional characters. That said, it was in parts extremely funny, the chemistry was good and the homage to US action staples and British cult movies was spot on.

mike b
i think that this film will be a big hit and i would go and see it

Ellen
Brilliant!! Pure genius....was laughing throughout! 5* film

chelsey
hilarious! over the top but so cleverly made

Gabriel Boyle
Very Funny but very very gory this is indeed the best British cop Movie of the Year. Not as great as "SHAUN OF THE DEAD" but of course Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are both brilliant in it together. For action Movie lovers this will be on their list.

darren
great the best film ever man thay was great

Stephen
This is very funny indeed, I goddamn guarantee you'll need to wath this mother of cop flick several times to get all the laughs and refernece all the influences. It is true entertainment; takes all the cop/good versus bad film rules and rewrties them to create a west country High Noon. This is best seen in the cinema to really do justice to the full on sound and frantic jump cut edit. Go Now!

Andy B
In the first half hour I was getting worried because it just wasn't funny at all. But the last half hour made up for it without question!

Lucia
Wasn't as enjoyable or amusing as i expected, judging from the trailer. Perhaps there has been too much hype, some of the jokes were lacking and repetitive, but overall not bad :).

Monkey Boy
So good it hurts. The first film I can think of during the last decade that lives up to the promise of its trailers. Well acted, superbly directed and written, and the nods to the genre are handled with a subtle touch. Definitely one to watch again and again.

sam
this a grate film it should of come out eraly

STEVE FOSTER
I WATCHED THE TRAILER FOR THIS FILM AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUNNY WAS BORED STIFF UNTIL THE LAST HALF HOUR WHEN IT LIVENED UP A BIT WAS FAR TOP LONG

Jeff Staples
Absolutely awesome!!! Not seen a film like it for a while. Watched Shaun of the Dead the night before. Well worth it for the little in jokes. I'll have a cornetto please!

Sarah
Fantastic!! I giggled the whole way through!! Thought the guy infront of me was going to die he was laughing so hard!!

Ian
good film but not as good as shan of the dead

peza
trailer doesnt do it justice.... absolutely brilliant

FRAN
This is the funniest film I have seen in ages. This is ? British comedy at its very best.

Markyb
Wot an awesome film best comedy film i've seen in long time

barbie nightmare
really funny right to the end. I can definatley say Im glad Ive seen it !

Gareth Lythgoe
i have to say, without doubt, the funniest film I have seen in the cinema, British comedy once again leads the way in humour! Something we truly are good at.

Chris
Never have we been so disappointed. Had read and heard the reviews on Simon Mayo. A good idea but too long, too dragged out. I was hoping for the end. Please tell me where the funny bits were! All very predicatble and boring, boring, boring.

derek day
shoot outs,swearing,car chases,comedy,gore and a swan.fabulous,best night out in a long time

Stefanovich
Quite far the best Comedy to hit the screens in a long long time. The US haven't a clue about comedy anymore. Fast paced top notch direction and I didn't stop laughing all the way through. I needed the pause button! All the characters are brilliant. I'd say its the best film of the year. Will see again and again.

Dave Collings
This is a film with 5 star moments but over edited to the point of exhaustion. SOTD fealt like a film that could have fit a little more in but this is a film that needed to slow it down. Anyone with any inclination to see this should, but it's flawed. The characters need room to breathe and they just don't get it. That said, I don't laugh a lot at cinema, and that alone could make this a classic.

Alex Fryer - Guildford
-By the power of Greyskull- I actually preferred it to Shawn of The Dead,in some ways. I don't think its fair to keep comparing the two. I've been a huge fan of Wright's work, and the humour is sharp, clever, funny and dark all at the same time. Its also a little more accessible than Shawn of The Dead. I applauded at the end (at the risk of looking rather odd.

eimear
the funniest film i've seen in ages - these 2 make great movies. will watch again and again!!

Lauren
it was good could of done with some more laughs though!

matt bowes
good idear for a story, my village will never seem the same!!!!!

Michael Salkeld
Simon Pegg gives a commanding performance, and it has a few funny jokes, But the plot falls into to a tedium that flashy editing and action sequences cant over come.

malc
Also thought the last half hour saved this film. Up until then I had seen all the good stuff from the trailer and was ready to walk. But when the action starts...hold on to your hat. It's funny too.

vicki
very funny, entertaining and surprisingly sweet in places - I actually cared about the characters - this endlessly quotable film will make you laugh out loud!

Tostin
If the only bad word I have for a movie is 'could have been trimmed by ten minutes' then I know its a corker. And it is. Fuzz achieves the impossible by being funnier than Shaun! And a gun toting Bad Boys shootout with vicars and pensioners? Couldn't stop laughing!

Kieran
Can't remember the last time I paid to see a film & came out with no reservations at all. I Just loved it. While there were lots of cop film references, it wasn't just another moronic parody where you tick the cliches off a list - "Oh, I recognized that from Film A. Hey, that was from film B!" No, these were clever references, and they were an important part of the story.

Robbo
One of the best and funniest ever british films

Baxter
By the Power of Greyskull, it brilliant! Go see - twice.

evan master
i thought it was great but the toilet was jammed

evan barwise
it is such a great episode of emmerdale

Paul Mount
Blazing hot director Edgar Wright and his dream team cast led by Pegg and Frost score another smash with thus pulsatingly funny cop parody. Fast and furious, maybe a bit overlong, but packed with great verbal and visual gags and some genuine gore for Shaun fans!! Another smash! Roll on the next one, boys!!

Martin Boronte
Why can't the commenteers of this film spell or write in a coherent manner?

keir
this is a very gd film

scruffybobby
Pegg, Wright and Frost love their movies and it shows here. Pegg is excellent as the straightlaced Angel and Frost is equally good as his innocent and loyal pal. It's their love of films that makes Hot Fuzz, without which it could have matched Scary/Date movie awfulness. HF takes the familiar tropes of the action genre and makes us laugh at them, but always with affection.

Tara
Brilliant fun - a spoof without obvious jokes!

Will
Hot Fuzz is full of great slapstick Comedy and Action ,non stop gags always something going on. id probably go and watch it again just for the Comedy value id say its got sort of the Shaun of the Dead Style to it. And yeah its great to see the duo back together on the screen after there first film hope to see more of them together in films soon.

reg
It's just not funny, barely raised a laugh in the cinema. I don't know how anyone could gice it 5 stars. Also, 30 mins too long.

Haydn Rees
I laughed out loud in spite of myself - in places from sheer surprise at lovingly crafted moments of recognition, and delight from seeing a plot so satisfyingly realised. First rate story-telling, as entertaining as anything else in any cinema near me. This was made with great affection for everything it aluded too. Topped off by a former James Bond as a villain makes it an instant classic.

James.C
A Great film never laughed so much in my laugh instant classic

bingo
not as good as the first two, but a worthy addition to the trilogy!

jack james
Brilliant film, once you’ve seen it you will want to watch it again and again, you will come away with some classic fraises, that will keep you amused for weeks to come!! I especially enjoyed the way village life was portrayed, as a village bumpkin myself I thought it was spot on!! Genius film 5 stars with ease!!!

amy
i loved it. it was sooo funny it was so good. GO AND SEE IT !!!

David Clarke
A decent film, the last half hour saves it from being very disappointing. Timothy Dalton plays his part very well and Pegg and Frost are, once again, great on screen together. 3.2 out of 5.

Kris
Dare I say it but I think Hot Fuzz is funnier than Shaun of the Dead. Ram packed with nods to the copy buddy flick, ladded with hilarious one liners yet still has a story to carry the action along. Only gripe is that the execution of the action sequences looks pretty cheap. But so what, thats not why you go to see this film. You go cos its so pant wettingly funny.

Simon Bromley, Sheffield
By the power of Grayskull! Brilliant, Just brilliant. 'Lov efool' will never sound the same again! Comedy and action in spades - excellent. *****

Mark
There are some great gags in Fuzz, but also a lot of empty space, uninspiring characterisatio n and wasted cameos. Hot Fuzz is very much a hit and miss film. It misses an awful lot, but when it hits, it hits you with a shotgun to the head and a spinning kick out the window.

Mark
No way is this a 5 star film. Hilarious at times, but also waaayyy too long and stretched out.

Mark Ivey
After the brilliance of Shaun of the Dead, I went into Hot Fuzz with high expectations and I'm glad to say I was not in the least disappointed. Misters Pegg, Frost and Wright have come up with another classic that was very enjoyable from start to finish with cameos from just the entire cream on British comedy. This was perfect and can't come out on DVD soon enough.

ronan o'meara
Watched a preview last night. Fantastic stuff. As good or better than Shaun. Maybe a little long but so much fun. Frost & Pegg are the new Riggs & Murtaugh

Andy
This film is amazing! Brilliant direction, editing & sound. I enjoyed it even more than Shaun - I never thought that coule be possible! Can't wait for this great team to make another hit movie like this. :-)

Mat R
Very enjoyable it has to be said. Completly agree with Mr Russell in that I don't think it quite touched the heights of Shaun but still head and shoulders over most offerings at the multiplex. I love the twist on hoodies but think they could have had more fun with the model village. Could have done with a bit of trimming, perhaps 15 mins but thats being really picky. Go see.

Andy, London
Loved Spaced to bits, Liked ShaunOTD alot - but this left me flat. OK has some funny momemts and probably funnier than most films you'll see this year but not the standard I'd expected from these guys. 7/10 and amused, when I expected 10/10 and split sides.

Rob Voase
Saw this last night. Absolutely the most silly, entertaining movie I have seen in a long time. I was a huge fan of Shaun of the Dead and this isn't quite as good but it's still great. Very funny and with the most utterly ridiculous last 25 minutes in a movie it is great fun and well worth a watch.

Rob Dennehy
This film is at least as good as it's predecessor Shaun of the Dead. The combination of the classic English countryside setting, the British humour and the fantastic action, this must not only be the best comedy of the year but one of the best quintessentially British action films ever made.

Amy Fitzpatrick
A mixture of clever jokes and downright silliness, I found this film totally hilarious. The blood and gore was a bit much, and it was slightly too long, but I laughed out loud too many times for me to give this film anything less than five stars.

edwards
i thought exdrondly funny i was bacisly in stictes the whole thourgh the film

chris moran
a very very eye watering laughing action comedy film just fantastic and the actors again are fantastic people .

JAMIE BRADLEY
ITS FAB TO WATCH

Koro
Ive returned from the preview of Hot Fuzz, and i totally love it. The homage to action movies is awesome - these guys really know their films. I cannot wait to see it again! Oh and the Judge Judy line had me in stitches!

john
this film is ausom!!!!!! i've seen shaun of the dead and now i can't wait for this!!!!!!!

Katy
I saw Hot Fuzz at a preview on Monday & have to urge the rest of the country to see it when it is released on the 14th! It is far funnier than SotD & the acting is top class, even down to the smallest of cameos. The jokes come thick & fast, & true to their Space origins, many pop references & associated gags are set up well in advance of their eventual, wholly satisfying, punchlines. Go see it!

Andy
Since it has to be short on this place, i have to simply put this. The film cannot be looked at wit Shaun of the Dead, same peple, different film, great nods. Fast, funny, loud and clearly knowledgable of action conventions, the western, the thriller, the gore, well, that's just part of it. Great English cast, fantastically gfunny lines, now catchphrases, brill music and kinetic energy, 10/10

pauline rolfe
Hot Fuzz is full of brilliant gags and hilarious "crin ge in your seat" moments. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have out done themselves again. Im always impressed by these two and hope to see a lot more returns to the big screen as well as the small. Nick Frost was also amazing as the dim witted side kick as always and it was nice to see a lot of familiar faces from "Shaun of the Dead." See it!

Allie
Laugh out loud funny ! Not quite up to Shaun but still a top British movie. This is a great night out - take your mates, get in the popcorn and be entertained !! If you don't like this film you haven't got a sense of humour !!
