BBCi FILMS - Readers' Reviews

paul
not the greatest film ever but a very entertaining blockbuster. well worth watching.

Simon
Better than I expected! Funny, exciting, great effects, 4*

Freelander Jason
I thought this film was amazing - it was definitely a lot better than the first turkey. It had everything you'd want in a superhero action movie and, dare I say it, was a little bit more fast paced than Spiderman 3. A thoroughly enjoyable popcorn flick!! 5 Stars!!

John Purdon
Weak. Disappointing. A terrible script for an awful story. Not a movie the cast will look back at with pride.

The Thing Fan
Though this movie was well better than the first one, great story and even better character developement. Will always like The Thing and Johnny Storm. If you enjoyed films such as X-men, and Spiderman - Go see this movie :) Its a kiddie friendly superhero movie which the whole family can enjoy.

John Tuppence
There is a very pretty girl in this film called Jessica Alba, but sometimes she wears glasses so that is not as good. I really connected with the difficulties her character faced in her personal life as susan stormy and i would recommend that you keep a box of tissues nearbly when you watch this.

sajeda
the film was exciting and made wonder what will happen next!!

Medea B
Was I watching a different movie to everyone else? The story plodded along with total disregard to the comics. The relationship between the FF is totally off and what happened to Galactus!Very disappointing comic-movie tie-in.

supergirl
this is the best marvel comic book movie ever!!! i luv it!!! nd ioan gruffud is really cute too

bravo delta 14
a film with lots of excitment and thrills in 1 word to describe it i would say fantastic

Linton
Short but good, funny throughout and the action is realy great mixed in with the amazing CG.

shaka
ok could be more interesting must be me once u see them all comic book heroes they grow off u ok 4 my kid.

Matthew Knightley
This is a great film for anyone. With a detailed story line, you will need to listen carefully but looking at the action you eventually forget about the story and become glued to you seat wondering how they did the special effects etc. Great film for everyone, plus it has Jessica Alba in it, would'nt be the same if it was someone else.

JLR
Surprisingly, i enjoyed this. The effects were of a high standard, and the comedy was great. The only disappointment was that I did not get a good at Galactacus. Great movie, and more enjoyable than Spiderman 3.

James Gaisford
Take 1 part comedy, 2 parts thriller and 4 parts cheese. Add 3 large spoonfuls of special effects, 4 cardbord performances and place in cinemas. Leave in for 4 weeks and release immediatly to DVD.

callum
an enjoyable special effects adventure, but not much more than that. Rather poor in places and slighty disapointing (although eyes-friendly) ending. Pretty, explosive and funny but there are better comic-book adapations out there.

Hugo
Good fun. Not too long for once.

hannatu kokwain
this was an energetic exciting sequel. that sowed us a new side to the characters. it was funny uplifting, and so the perfect chic flick.although we could have seen more of the hunk that was the silver surfer

Took my 14 year old nephew along to get his views (Good excuse for me to go) and surprise surprise we really both enjoyed it not overblown or pretentious a storyline easy to follow special effects surfingly good and at 91 mins no bottom ache,so ignore the so called critics and go see a fun film, and stay to the ending credits i nearly applauded.

Talia Brown
Definaltely better than the first one, a much better story line. And is a film i could watch over and over again

Fantastic film jessica Alba is hot especialy when she swaps powers with her brother johnny. Can't wait to see alba in Sin City 2. Great action no boring bits. Funny bits between johnny and ben. Film to short and no sign of Galactus in it. Equally as good as Spiderman 3. Bring on fantastic four 3 as long as main cast stay on , $(message:e)

Woah! Peopleseem to belining up tobash thismovie... ignorethem! This isquite simplythe BEST marvelmovie to hitthe big screen. Pure comicbook fun inevery sense ofthe word. TheSilver Surferis awesome, they totallynailed him -looks and flowsamazing. Soignore the badpress, grabanybody who haseven theslightestinterest incomics ormovies and getready for atotal blast!!!

mike hart
felt it lacked good acting and a poor story line

His Holiness
Absolutely terrible, good for very small children but otherwise skippable.

Wilhelm
I thought the film was ace, gd humour, gd acting and easy watching. Just a shame that the surfer didnt look quite as powerful as the comics though. But ace voice acting by Laurence Fishburne.

Dr Strangepants
Some good one-liners, some nice special effects but in the end a little dull and lacking in charm.

Jon Fry
Fantastic Bore! The Silver Surfer started cool but then got really lame. The effects for Mr Fantastic were awful, which added to a poor performance by Ioan Gruffudd. Hated the Invisible Woman, and the cheesy wedding saga! The Human Torch was the only decent thing throughout. In all though, a waste of time, an awful, boring & predictable movie!!

ANDREW DAVIS
Lot better than the first. Outlandish adventure and lots of goofy humour. That's what I most remember about the comics. This film is not Batman Begins and nor should it be. Who says that that EVERY superhero film has to be "dark and gritty?"Roll on FF3 - and bring on Galactus!

pete
Thankfully, this film excels at blowing stuff up.

BECKY
GOOD FILM A LITTLE SLOW IN PLACES AND PREDICTABLE STORYLINE. BIT CHEESY BUT GOOD FAMILY ALLN ROUNDER

Mark cullen
enjoyed the first film -but the best thing about this seuqel is when it ends, poor script and frankly in places its just sooo dull - can just one of this summers blockbusters live up to the hype ?!

Joe Richardson
As entertaining as the Marvel comic books I used to read as a schoolboy. A slight change in story line when compared to the comic books, but that's progress and all for the better in my view. The film was also, just the right length and in terms of action and story line, perfectly weighted making me wish I was 12 years old again.

Katie
jessica alba doesnt look real

revolution8
a good movie for young minds and backed as much by the short running time. This casting of the FF remains a ? and the natural charm and chemistry between the stars is lacking. Doom is wasted and only comes to the fore late on. The silver surfer is well conceived however a poor interpretation from his galactic entity in the comics. Shame to see Galactus reduced to just being space dust though

Susie
It wasn't fantastic but it was good fun. An enjoyable family movie.

Dean
Surfer looks the part but why mess with the mythos, why give the board the power other then the story arc. He's now easy to defeat and no toe to toe punch ups. Why the crap cosmic power effects, looks like it was taken from "The Covenant". saying that there was not enough Surfer and not enough film. Kids may be the target audiance but most fans were reading this inthe 60's.

Dan C
I totally disagree with Tae Mawson's review; FF shouldn't be compared to other comic book adaptations. This is because it is a lighter genre, aimed at the family. Much better than Spiderman 3, as good as X Men 3. Go watch this if you like action, fun, a bit of humanity and a clean, crisp plot/script. Tae Mawson is too hung up on Batman Begins/Superman Returns to give this credit.

johnnboy
from the title i thought this was a film about pensioners on the internet (kidding).the film is a bit more interesting.but do they have to crackwise, whilst saving the planet?

Caitlin
Very entertaning. So much better than the first. Visual effects= amazing and the storyline was better than the first. The Silver Sufer rocked!

neil
unlike spiderman 3 this film does not spend half its running time going into the how, what, why and then of the characters. this film is exactly what a comic book is. a quick read when you have a spare minute, not a full novel that takes you days too read. took my 10 year old son too see this and we both loved it. better than the first outing and the silver surfer rocks!!!!!

Justin
shockingly, I enjoyed it. Some loose ends weren't tied up in a satisfying way but a surprisingly enjoyable superhero romp. These type of films can never be taken seriously but nonetheless certainly showed me that you should never judge a book by its cover.

Marty
Loved It!! The effects were amazing and the action was great, much like Spiderman 3 was!!

DaveW
It's a good film. Kinda cheesy, kinda cheap, kinda funny, and the Silver Surfer is just the coolest superbaddie ever.

Rachel
This proves that you can make a good film with a 91 minute running time. The team (apart from the Thing) were a little too glamourous and there was too much silly humour but it kept me watching. The Silver Surfer is too sexy for words. After Spideryawn 3 and Pirates of the Incomprehensible Script 3 this was very refreshing.

Stan
Perhaps too much comedy and not enough bite but it is still an entertaining movie. Victor Von Doom was perhaps too stereotyped and why did he need to wear a mask now that he is transformed? The running time was just right (producers please note!!!). Best of this years blockbusters and no sore bum to boot!

Lee
I still cannot identify with the cast they chose to play the leads: Johnny is too old, Sue is too page 3 and Reed just not authoritative. Still, they've kept to the general theme of the comics with all the problems of a superhero family. The Silver Surfer story is true to the comics and the effects good but Dr Doom! Naah. There's more to him than Lex Luthor. Good fun but no gem.

Wilbur Sutton
Gosh I've seen some really dire sequels this year but this isn't bad despite it being aimed at kiddies. The Silver Surfer needs his own film - he's brill but the casting of the FF just doesn't work with me. Maybe I've read too many FF comics. Dr Doom is quite disappointing though he improves towards the end. I'd give it a thumbs up.

Siggy B
Loved the Silver Surfer dude but the FF seemed rather inept somehow. The humour was very hit and miss but it was quite a decent movie compared to Spiderman 3.

Andy Batten
The film makers have upped their target age group from under 6 to under twelve this time around. The FF are still hideously casted but the special effects make up for a story that has too many gags for its own good. The Silver Surfer character was well defined and rather sad but Galactus was despatched rather too quickly. Nevertheless an entertaining if purile romp.

Steve Novelle
The writers this time made an effort to read the comic books as it follows the Silver Surfer mythology quite well but they forgot that Dr Doom is the noble ruler of Latveria and not just a Lex Luthor villain. The Silver Surfer is very CGI but believable. The film suffers from too much comical padding and a hasty ending but overall this is far superior to the first film.

khanny
poor!

acacio de souza
this is a very made film..one of the best in effect special and the actore did very well...
