It's a very good film. The forbidden city is beautiful.

I think that's what you call a dysfunctional family

Sitting for 2 long hours while watching the film unfold really hurts as nothing happens and when we see some great action scenes "is it too late?". This film is really disappointing.

Zhang Yimou missed a chance to have fun with this film.
Claw
An exceptionally beautiful film that matches powerful visuals with powerful acting from the two leads. This film is largely incomparable with Zhang’s previous films and those seeking a pure martial arts flick should look elsewhere – the story here may be simple, but it is central. Also, those looking for a happy ending will be suitably displeased. However, this film has something for everyone.

this style of film is getting a bit familiar now and thus the opulence does begin to pall but it's a decent drama, and hang on in there for battle scenes even more amazing than those in 300

While Li shinesas the empress, the othercharacters arepoorlydeveloped. TheOTT palatialsets get boringafter a whileand there isvery little ofthe naturalbeauty seen inother films ofthis genre. Thefights aren'tthat goodeither. Poor

A disappointing epic. The fight scenes provide some relief from the rather self-indulgent shots of anguish on the central characters faces, but this is a film tha, overall, takes itself just a little too seriously to be an enjoyable experience

I'm a big GongLi fan, she's agreat actress, and sobeautiful too. This filmshowcases heracting andbeauty. I lovedthe familyintrigue, thetension builtwell leading toa slightlydisappointingfinale. Like300, I wishthey would stopdoing CGI megabattles. We allKNOW therearen't 10,000extras on set,and it looks soartificial. Thesmaller fightsare much morefun! Beautifulfilm.
