Singleton Reforms A-Team
John Singleton is taking The A-Team to the big screen. Ice Cube, who starred in Singleton's debut film Boyz ‘N' The Hood, has been rumoured as a potential BA Baracas (originally played by Mr T, fool…), but execs at Twentieth Century Fox have dismissed that. They're overseeing the big screen version of the ‘80s TV show, but remain guarded as a deal with Singleton is not yet in place and the US writers' strike continues.
The most recent version of the script centres on a gang of Iraq vets wanted by the US military for a crime they didn't commit, yada, yada, yada. They survive as soldiers of fortune, helping the innocent and, in a modern twist, go after some unscrupulous oil tycoons. Cue the exploding oil wells.

Serkis In For Tintin
Andy Serkis is re-teaming with director Peter Jackson for Tintin. Steven Spielberg and Jackson will each helm at least one in a trilogy based on Georges Remi's Belgian comic-strip. They're staying mum on Serkis's role, except to say it won't be Tintin. However, given that all three instalments are using performance capture technology, it's perhaps safe to assume the actor who played Gollum and King Kong will be donning the digital pimple suit again.
Tintin's faithful dog Snowy anyone…? Principal photography on the first film (which is being shot in 3D) is scheduled to begin in September.

Favreau Takes Four
Jon Favreau and country music stars Tim McGraw and Dwight Yoakam are the latest to join Four Christmases. Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn headline this yuletide comedy as newlyweds entertaining all the family for the holidays. Favreau and McGraw will stir trouble as Vaughn's bullying brothers whilst Yoakam will play Pastor Phil, religious zealot and new boyfriend of Witherspoon's ditsy mum (Mary Steenburgen).
Sissy Spacek and Robert Duvall are also on the guest list. According to recent reports, it's a helluva party as Witherspoon and Vaughn are clashing on set like - well, like a married couple on Christmas Day. Does anyone else smell turkey?

Rossum Rolls On Dragonball
Emmy Rossum, last seen in Poseidon, has landed a major role in Dragonball. Based on the popular Japanese manga, the story follows a warrior who protects the Earth from a stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe (as you do). TV face James Marsters plays the villain, Lord Piccolo who steals a Dragon Ball belonging to the father of Emmy Rossum's character - a 16-year-old genius named Bulma.
There are seven Dragon Balls scattered across the planet, magical stones that when gathered, can summon the Dragon God who will grant a single wish to the person who possesses them. He just wants his balls back.

Smith Is Legend
Will Smith has done it again. His world-saving turn in I Am Legend made No.1 in the States with $76.5m (£38m) - the best December opening of all time. Meanwhile live-action/CGI hybrid Alvin And The Chipmunks surpassed all expectations by debuting in second place with an estimated $45m (£22.3m). That means The Golden Compass gets bumped to third position, although it's still doing well in Europe.
According to early reports, the Nicole Kidman starrer stays on top in the UK with $6.3m (£3.1m) whilst Enchanted and Bee Movie are in a close race for No.2 with around $4-5m (£2-3m) each. Meanwhile Mr Magorium is wondering what went wrong.
