  Matt Replaces Ailing Owen
Matthew McConaughey has joined the cast of Tropic Thunder, the somewhat troubled Dreamworks comedy directed by Ben Stiller. McConaughey takes over from Owen Wilson, who dropped out of the production after being unexpectedly hospitalised last month.

He joins an all star cast that includes Jack Black, Nick Nolte, Robert Downey Jr and, er, Steve Coogan. OK, an almost all-star cast. McConaughey is better known for his action and rom-com roles than for out-and-out comedy performances, but did once get arrested for playing the bongoes naked, and that's pretty funny.
  McConaughey Haunted
And we're not done with our McConaughey bulletin yet. Variety reports that the limber young fellow will star opposite Jennifer Garner in Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past for New Line. One of those does-what-it-says-on-the-tin movies, Ghosts... is the story of a guy who is visited by the spirits of his previous girlfriends while attending a wedding. So it's Richard Curtis meets A Christmas Carol.

Mark Waters will direct the film, from a screenplay by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. Hey, did we mention that Matthew McConaughey got arrested for playing the bongoes while in the buff? It's one of those things that you just have to keep bringing up, like the fact that Richard Gere's middle name is Tiffany.
  Ritchie's Dirty Dozen
Take this one with a large pinch of salt, but according to a leaked schedule of future Hollywood projects, Guy "Mr Madonna" Ritchie is reportedly working on a remake of The Dirty Dozen. The heart quails at the prospect of Vinnie Jones, Jason Staham and co. savaging the 1967 war classic like a dog with a chew toy, but at least it would be a change of pace from all those cockernee crime lord flicks.

Meanwhile, Ritchie is currently working on Rocknrolla, which is (gasp!) a London-based gangster flick. Where does he get these ideas?
  Superbad II?
Anyone who has enjoyed Superbad lately (and if not, why not?) will be cheered by the news that director Greg Mottola is working on a follow-up. Called Adventureland, it's the story of a college grad who is forced to take a miserable job at a theme park. Mottola wrote the screenplay himself, so it's not clear whether there is any connection between this film and the autobiographical shenanigans of Superbad (which was penned by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg).

There are few details at this stage, but Variety tells us that Ryan Reynolds has been cast as an aspiring rock star.
