I Want Candy (2007)
15Contains infrequent strong sex references

Baywatch's Carmen Electra plays a porn star in I Want Candy, an otherwise very British comedy about a couple of geeky film students in way over their heads. After deciding to turn their college project into a skinflick, Joe and Baggy pursue adult star Candy Fiveways for the lead role, but getting her - and filming her - isn't as easy as they'd hoped. Brit comics Mackenzie Crook and Jimmy Carr also appear in this good-natured slice of suburban smut.

Sex toys, lesbian love scenes and porn stars who do it at least "five ways" are the staples of this knockabout comedy, which sees its talented but inexperienced heroes attempting to shoot a porno in a semi-detached in Leatherhead. Sure, it's a cheap bid to get the boys in, but I Want Candy also has a reasonably sharp script and a warm heart on its side. While embracing some clichés successfully (trapped in a bathroom, a son is forced to listen to his parents' love-making), it turns a few others on their heads: buxom porn star Candy is actually quite the smart, serious film buff.

"NO FULL MONTY"

Innuendos are slung in casually, not over-emphasised, and there are enough funny ones to help you go easy on the film's flaws (you know, a few duff gags, dodgy actors and continuity errors - typical low-budget stuff). This is no Full Monty, but like the film-within-a-film, it's got enough creativity and enthusiasm to win young audiences over. And, of course, it's also rather rude.

I Want Candy is released in UK cinemas on Friday 23rd March 2007.
